Optimizing Online Marketing Efforts:
What Doesn't Work on the Web
In April 2003, online marketing guru Cory Rudl advises marketers to avoid these common Website mistakes that drive visitors away:
- Overwhelming graphics
- Too many links going to too many different
places
- Flashy banners
- Lengthy, pointless flash presentations
- An entire home page devoted to your
corporate mission statement or something else without a reader benefit
- Lack of relevant information
These points are still valid in 2010 and are likely to remain valid for a while (if not forever). The one thing that has changed since 2003 is the advent and acceptance of video on the web. Video has become very popular thanks to websites like YouTube.
